Veteran actor and comedian Okey Bakassi has officially been crowned as the traditional ruler of the Umuihuocha Autonomous Community, located in Mbaise, Imo State.
This recognition marks a significant milestone, as Bakassi becomes the only prominent Nigerian entertainer in recent times to ascend to a royal position.
Following his coronation, he will be formally addressed as His Royal Highness Eze Okechukwu Onyegbule, the OKWE II of Umuihuocha Obohia Autonomous Community. The title “OKWE II” suggests he is the second monarch to bear that name, although details about his predecessor remain limited.
Bakassi shared the news on his social media account on Sunday, celebrating the moment with the caption, “NEXT LEVEL.” He described his new role as a form of service to both humanity and his community, stating his commitment in a message titled “Service to Community.”
