Ruthless Gunners delay Liverpool’s title celebrations

Arsenal delivered a dominant performance at Portman Road, thrashing 10-man Ipswich Town 4-0 to tighten their grip on a top-four finish and momentarily stall Liverpool’s Premier League title charge.

The Gunners’ attacking fluidity was on full display, with Gabriel Martinelli netting a slick second goal following an incisive move down the right orchestrated by Bukayo Saka.

Ipswich’s hopes of a fightback were dashed when Leif Davis was shown red for a reckless challenge on Saka, raking his studs down the England winger’s Achilles.

Though Saka briefly continued, he was eventually substituted after continuing discomfort.

Leon Trossard extended Arsenal’s lead with his second of the night on 70 minutes, pouncing inside the six-yard box from Declan Rice’s cutback.

Substitute Ethan Nwaneri added a fourth late on, his deflected strike capping a dominant showing.

George Hirst came closest for Ipswich early in the second half, but his effort whistled just wide.

Aside from that, the visitors offered little resistance against a relentless Arsenal side.

The result keeps Arsenal in firm control of their Champions League destiny and ensures Liverpool must wait a little longer to seal the title.
