Papaya Ex tenders apology as Iyabo Ojo steps in over controversial outfit

Popular Nigerian socialite and influencer, Papaya Ex, has publicly apologised after facing backlash for an outfit she wore to Priscilla Ojo’s traditional wedding, which featured a photo of the bride’s husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.

The incident stirred reactions after Papaya showed up at the star-studded event in a dress with Juma Jux’s face boldly displayed on her chest area.

The outfit, which many online deemed inappropriate and attention-seeking, quickly became a topic of heated discussion on social media, particularly on Twitter, where users accused her of being disrespectful.

The drama escalated when Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham was seen in a viral video confronting Papaya Ex about the dress. In the clip, Toyin attempted to pull off the photo from the dress in frustration, but was stopped by Iyabo Ojo—Priscilla’s mother—who urged calm, warning that tearing the fabric would ruin the dress.

In response to the controversy, Papaya Ex took to Instagram to share her side of the story. Posting the video of her being confronted by Toyin and Iyabo, she expressed remorse and clarified that her intention was never to disrespect the couple.

“I sincerely apologise if my outfit came off the wrong way. I meant no harm. It was all love and celebration for Priscy and Juma. I have nothing but good intentions for the beautiful couple,” she said.
