Afrobeats sensation Davido Adeleke has revealed a lesser-known side of his creative aspirations—his passion for filmmaking and acting.
In a recent chat with content creator Darryl, Davido shared that if music hadn’t worked out for him, he would have pursued a career behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. The singer, who studied business marketing, said the course naturally aligned with his broader love for showbiz.
“I studied business marketing, so I would have still been in the entertainment space [if I wasn’t singing] but probably, more of behind the scenes,” Davido said.
Now a globally recognized music icon, Davido is looking to broaden his influence by diving into the African film space. According to him, he plans to back several film projects this year, collaborating with top creatives like director Dammy Twitch.
“I am investing in a couple of films this year. Shoutout to my director, Dammy Twitch. We have some ideas, series coming. The film space right now in Africa is going bankruptcy. So, we are definitely going to tap into that,” he announced.
The singer also surprised fans by admitting he’s got some acting chops, pointing out that his performances in music videos already display his dramatic flair.
“I can also act. I can act for real. I act in my music videos. I acted in music videos like ‘Jowo’, ‘Nwa Baby’,” he noted.
With a growing interest in cinema and a strong presence in music, Davido is shaping up to be a multifaceted force in Africa’s entertainment landscape.
