Popular Nigerian gospel singer and ordained pastor, Bolaji Olarewaju, widely known as Big Bolaji or Big B, has passed away.
His death was confirmed in a statement issued by his family on Saturday, April 19, 2025. According to the family, Big Bolaji died on Easter Saturday following a brief illness.
The statement described him as a “cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church community and the Nigerian music industry.”
“Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2025, after a brief illness. He was not only an ordained Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) but also a giant in gospel music and a voice of inspiration to many,” the family noted.
The family said details of his funeral arrangements would be communicated in due time.
Big Bolaji recently celebrated his 50th birthday and remained active in ministry and music until his passing. He was also known as a radio talk show host and began his musical journey with the gospel group J’apha, eventually becoming a household name in the Nigerian gospel scene with his powerful voice, vibrant stage presence, and soul-lifting songs.
Tributes have since poured in from fans, fellow gospel artists, and church members who described him as a man of joy, praise, and unwavering faith.
