The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has voiced strong belief that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will remain in office through 2031.

During a press briefing held in Abuja on Friday, Wike reflected on the difficulties Tinubu encountered during the 2023 presidential campaign. He pointed specifically to the naira redesign and fuel shortages—challenges he suggested were instigated by the former All Progressives Congress (APC) government to obstruct Tinubu’s path to victory.

Despite these hurdles, Wike emphasized that Tinubu triumphed, attributing the win to both divine intervention and strategic political skill.

Additionally, Wike addressed ongoing tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He warned that if the party fails to resolve its internal disputes, he may withdraw his backing in the forthcoming FCT council elections.

In his words:

“If PDP does not put their house in order, I’m not going to support them in the area councils election. If PDP goes the way they are going, I will not support them.”

“This crisis will consume the party until the right thing is done. I have never recommended anyone to these governors, but that doesn’t mean I don’t play a role. Like the governor of Bayelsa, I played a fundamental role—he can’t deny it.”

“I said it in 2023 and I’m saying it again: until 2031, when the presidency should shift to the North, there’s nothing anybody can say to change my mind.”

“You can’t tell me it’s your right alone to produce the president. Let’s all live harmoniously.”

“Whether APC liked it or not, Tinubu’s road to victory was turbulent. He could have lost woefully. The fuel crisis, the naira policy—it was all terrible. No party would introduce such policies during an election year. But he survived it.”

“That’s how you know God is on someone’s side—and that they understand the game. You must give it to him.”
