The Nigeria Police Force has addressed the viral video showing some of its officers accepting money from a Chinese national, promising to take appropriate disciplinary measures against the officers involved.
The video, which has triggered widespread outrage across social media, led the police to swiftly identify the officers and initiate an internal investigation.
In a statement from the Force’s Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police condemned the actions of the officers, describing their conduct as “unprofessional” and “unethical.”
“The Nigeria Police Force has taken cognisance of a disturbing video making rounds in the media space, showing police officers receiving money from a Chinese national.
“The Force has strongly condemned the conduct exhibited by the officers, describing it as unprofessional and unethical,” Adejobi stated.
The police force reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and trust. “The actions of the officers do not represent the established ethics, standards, and core values of the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Force has zero tolerance for such unprofessional behavior and other forms of misconduct, which undermine public trust and confidence,” he said.
