Nigerian billionaire, Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has won admiration for publicly addressing his son’s disrespectful behavior at a recent event.

According to reports from Legit.ng, on April 12, Obi Cubana marked his 50th birthday with an extravagant celebration in Abuja, his city of residence. The grand event attracted a star-studded guest list, including several well-known celebrities, politicians, and influential figures.

A video circulating on social media shows the businessman standing next to his son as Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, greeted him. After exchanging pleasantries with Obi Cubana, the politician turned to acknowledge the young boy, who was seated at the time. Noticing his son’s failure to stand, Obi Cubana deemed it disrespectful and promptly instructed him to rise and greet the politician, which the boy did.

In another segment of the lavish birthday festivities, Nigerian media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, had a significant interaction with Pastor Jerry Uchechukwu Eze. The two, who had previously exchanged words online, finally met face-to-face during the event. Daddy Freeze, who had been criticized by members of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD) for his controversial comments about Pastor Eze, surprised many by bowing his head in respect to the clergyman. The two engaged in a lengthy and friendly conversation, much to the surprise of onlookers.

Reflecting on Obi Cubana’s public handling of his son’s behavior, Nigerian father Mr. Samuel shared his thoughts on discipline in children. He emphasized the importance of teaching kids how to behave appropriately before any correction or punishment is administered.

“If I were in Obi Cubana’s shoes, I would first teach my child the right way to behave in public. Only after that would I scold or discipline them for their actions if needed,” Mr. Samuel stated.

The video of the incident has stirred mixed reactions online, with many praising Obi Cubana for instilling values of discipline and humility in his son, despite the family’s wealth and status.
