Nigerian travel content creator Alma Asinobi has announced plans to embark on a journey to all the seven continents in just 70 hours in a bid to break the Guinness World Record.
Her ambitious journey is set to begin on March 15, 2025, kicking off in Australia and concluding in Nigeria.
Beyond breaking records, Asinobi’s mission is to shed light on the challenges faced by Africans due to passport restrictions.
In a viral Instagram video, she detailed the difficulties she encountered while securing visas for the trip, revealing that she applied for over ten and faced multiple rejections.
“I’m doing this with a Nigerian passport to shed more light on the issue of passport privilege, She stated. When I fully recover from having to apply for more than 10 visas for this trip—and being rejected for two of them a total of five times—I will go in-depth about why we simply cannot afford to accept and remain silent about the second-class treatment we are subjected to when it comes to travel and visa requirements for citizens with low-mobility passports.
“I’m pushing the limits of one of the lowest-ranking passports in the world on this adventure to show what is possible and inspire you to see the world despite the limitations, while also shining a spotlight on a much-overlooked issue that affects over half of the world’s population, with Africans—both at home and in the diaspora—being among the most impacted.”
The current Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all continents is held by Indian travelers Ali Irani and Sujoy Kumar Mitra, who completed the feat in three days, one hour, five minutes, and four seconds.
