Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has raised concerns about the growing piracy issue in the film industry as she sends a note of warning to fans.
The box office queen, who is set to release her new movie Everybody Loves Jenifa in cinemas on December 13th, took to social media to urge Nigerians to take a stand against piracy.
In a heartfelt message, Funke condemned the act of recording videos at cinemas, labelling it as piracy and imploring people to stop as it is detrimental to the industry.
“SAY NO TO PIRACY!!! Recording short videos at the cinemas is piracy!!! Please stop it!!! Piracy is killing us!! I worked so hard on this project. Please, I’m pleading, do not be caught promoting piracy!!!” she wrote.
Funke shared how much effort and resources she has invested in the movie, emphasizing the devastating impact piracy has on filmmakers.
She ended her plea by emphasizing security measures put in place to counter piracy during the release of her movie; including the arrest of defaulters.
