Paul Pogba still fancies Marseille move despite De Zerbi’s claims

French midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly keen on joining Olympique de Marseille (OM) following his contract termination with Juventus last month.

According to RMC Sport, Marseille is also open to the idea of signing the 31-year-old, who will be eligible to return to football in March 2025 after his doping ban was reduced to 18 months.

The interest is said to be mutual, with Pogba keen on reviving his career in France.

Former France teammate Adrien Rabiot, who joined Marseille from Juventus earlier this season, has publicly invited Pogba to join him at the Vélodrome.

Additionally, ex-France international Patrice Evra has been lobbying for Pogba’s move to OM.

While Marseille owner Frank McCourt has reportedly admired Pogba since his standout performance in the Euro 2016 semi-finals, no formal talks have begun.

Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi, has also denied any links with the former Manchester United man, even though he likes his style of play.

In an interview with BeIn Sports in November, De Zerbi said, “I like strong players, but there is nothing for now.”

The club sees Pogba as a valuable asset to boost their visibility both domestically and in Europe.

For Pogba, a move to Marseille is an opportunity to regain his form and possibly rejoin the French national team under Didier Deschamps.
